Hidden along the eastern banks of the Mae Rim River, less than an hour north of Chiang Mai, Hacienda Botanica is the private estate of Bill Bensley and Jirachai Rengthong. Surrounded by gardens, river frontage, and forested foothills,

the estate has grown slowly over many years through planting, collecting, rebuilding, and continual reinvention.

“This was never designed to be a hotel,” says Bensley. “It was built around the things we love most: gardens, rivers, colour, art, animals, Mexico, Mae Rim, Morning coffee, and Rooms that make us smile.”

The Hacienda includes 11 individually designed bedrooms spread across villas and riverfront casitas, each filled with Mexican and Hispanic art, textiles, ceramics, and collected objects gathered over decades of travel. Guests always take over the entire estate, including the gardens, swimming pool, terraces, riverfront, Bill’s art studio, and the Dry House.

Life here is intentionally relaxed and personal, with a small host team shaping meals and daily rhythms around each group. Hacienda Botanica is best suited for families, close friends, and small private gatherings seeking time together in one singular and highly personal setting.
